The 34-year-old has arrived at the BayArena with the Spaniard set to wear the No.21 jersey.
Bayer Leverkusen have officially announced that free agent Lucas Vázquez is joining Rhineland club.
The 34-year-old won’t cost a cent as his contract with Real Madrid expired this summer. The Spaniard has signed with Bayer until 2027.
“With Lucas Vázquez, we are signing an extremely experienced player who has won everything there is to win with Real Madrid over the past ten years.
“He is technically strong, tactically adept, an excellent provider and strategist.
“With his footballing finesse and exceptional routine, Lucas will have a major influence on our game and become a pillar of our team,” said sporting director Simon Rolfes.
Vázquez, having won the Champions League five times with Los Blancos alone, will now guide the young guns in Leverkusen.
He will earn a yearly salary of €6-7million gross as Leverkusen fended off interest from Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş, Nottingham Forest and other Saudi clubs.
